General Questions

What does Registry Helper protect my computer against?

Registry Helper is a utility that finds Invalid Entries in your Windows registry and deletes these Invalid Entries to increase your computer's stability and performance. With Registry Helper you will
  • Improve overall system performance. With a clean registry, Windows and applications will be able to get data from the registry in a more efficient manner.

  • Reduce the amount of time it takes your system to boot. By not needing to load "empty" registry entries at startup, Windows will take less time to start.

  • Save memory by cleaning the registry. By reducing the overall size of the registry, more memory will be available for other applications, reducing the likelihood that your system will need to resort to using virtual memory (virtual memory is much slower than physical memory).

  • Prevent your system from behaving erratically, freezing, or crashing. Certain corrupt registry entries can cause applications or the operating system to retrieve invalid information about your system or cause it to fail to find that information altogether. Any of these undesirable outcomes can in some cases cause applications or the operating system to behave erratically, freeze, or crash.

Why do I need Registry Helper?

The System Registry is like the central nervous system of your computer. Virtually all Windows programs -- and the Windows operating system itself -- store a massive array of information inside this database. These thousands of entries control the behavior and appearance of virtually everything on your system.

Over time the registry becomes larger as new programs are installed, used and removed.

The registry can grow but it can never shrink back due to its design. Why? When a registry entry is removed, that entry is simply marked as blank but still remains in place. This creates a gap in the registry. Because of this behavior, as hundreds or thousands of "gaps" are created, the registry becomes more and more fragmented over time.

Registry fragmentation causes overall system performance to decrease. Systems with a fragmented registry will take longer to boot and will use more memory for processing the registry. This results in decreased overall performance as other programs are forced to use virtual memory which is much slower than physical memory.

Registry Helper is a utility that finds and removes Invalid registry Entries resulting in:

  • Faster system speed

  • No system crashes

  • Smooth system functioning

Registry Helper freezes when deleting Invalid Entries

After you run the scan, do not try to delete all the Invalid Entries at once. Instead, please do the following:

STEP 1

  1. Click the blue "Scan Now" button in the left-hand menu.

  2. Click the green "Scan" button located at the bottom of the screen.

  3. On the "Invalid Entries Detected" page, right-click over the window that lists the Invalid Entries and click "Select None".

  4. Check off about 30% of the Invalid Entries (you don't have to be exact).

  5. Click the "Delete Invalid Entries" button located at the bottom of the screen.

(If your computer still freezes, repeat these steps but check off about 15% of the Invalid Entries).

STEP 2

The Invalid Entries that you *didn't* check off will automatically be added to your "Ignore List". You must remove them from your "Ignore List" so they show up in the next scan by doing the following:

  1. Click the blue "Ignore List" button in the left-hand menu.

  2. Right-click your mouse over the listing of items and choose "Select All" (this will check the box next to all the items in the list).

  3. Click the "Delete" button at the bottom of the screen.

After you have removed the Invalid Entries from your "Ignore List", repeat the instructions in STEP 1 to delete the remaining Invalid Entries.

When you're finished deleting all the Invalid Entries, reboot your computer and do a fresh scan to make sure everything is deleted.
